Edward A. Mermelstein (born 1967) is a Russian-American real estate attorney, legal strategist, businessman, and developer based in New York City. He is the managing partner at Rheem Bell & Mermelstein, LLP, a boutique real estate and corporate law firm with a rapidly expanding global network. As a partner, Edward is fiercely committed to pursuing and protecting his clients’ interests in all aspects possible.

With an impressive number of victories to his name, a keen understanding of the global political arena, and a knack for nimbly navigating international markets, Edward has been named one of the 10 most influential figures in New York City real estate. Often quoted in the New York Times, Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal, and the Real Deal, Edward is regarded as a leading expert when it comes to closing complex deals and winning unique legal cases.

Edward is also the president of Alfa Consulting Group, an advisory firm specializing in providing legal, consulting, and strategic business development services to foreign companies and international investors seeking opportunities in the U.S., as well as U.S. firms seeking opportunities abroad. Since its creation, Alfa Consulting Group has flourished into a multifaceted company that offers its clientele a myriad of consultative services ranging from financial to educational advising.

COJECO — Council of Jewish Émigré Community Organizations


COJECO was formed in 2001 as an umbrella organization for grass-roots community organizations of Russian-speaking Jewish immigrants within New York. Its mission is to help unite and organize the multitudes of well-educated and successful Russian-speaking Jewish immigrants. By offering a wide array of services, COJECO is creating a prominent name for itself in the growing Russian Jewish community of New York City. Today, it serves as a model for similar organizations around the country.

RAJE – Russian American Jewish Experience

An organization founded in 2006, RAJE addresses the Jewish communal and educational needs of young Russian American Jews. It is a comprehensive educational and communal organization whose goal is to spark interest in Jewish culture and ensure its continuity for future generations.


The Link of Times Cultural-Historical Fund

USA Regional Director (1996-2000)

A Cultural-Historical foundation, The Link of Times was established by Russian businessman Viktor Vekselberg in February 2004. The core mission of the foundation is to repatriate cultural and historical pieces that have been taken out of Russia. Encouraging the United States and Russia, two seemingly polarized nations, to cooperate is incredibly important, especially in times of economic hardship. By assisting Russia in reclaiming emblems of its cultural heritage, this organization helps bridge the long existing gap between the former USSR and the United States.


The Mermelstein Scholars Fund


A scholarship fund established for students with financial need —to be known as Mermelstein Scholars—who are immigrants or the children of immigrants from Eastern Europe.
